Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC)
The Canadian Government has mandated that by September 15 2009 anyone operating a boat under power in Canadian waters must have a PCOC. Implementation is staged, and all operators of boats under 4 metres (13 feet) need one. Personal Water Craft (SeaDoo's, Jetski's, aka PWC) operators must have their PCOC now, regardless of size of the PWC or their age. Fines can be quite stiff if you are caught without one. Anyone operating a powered boat (including a PWC) and who was born after April 1 1983 must also have a PCOC. Lighthouse Linx provides both the CYA Spark Start and the BoatSmart! Canada programs. These programs are accredited by Transport Canada as program suppliers of the PCOC. |
